Northern Iowa retires Kurt Warner jersey at upcoming home opener

Northern Iowa will honor former quarterback Kurt Warner by retiring his No. 13 jersey on September 12. The ceremony is scheduled to take place during the Panthers' first home game of the season against Drake. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls by 12:30 p.m. to witness the unveiling of a banner featuring Warner's name and number. The university also plans to distribute 1,000 replica jerseys to early-arriving spectators on the north concourse. Warner played at Northern Iowa, where he threw for 2,747 yards and 17 touchdowns during his senior season. His career later spanned the Arena Football League before he rose to prominence with the St. Louis Rams, where he earned NFL Most Valuable Player honors and won a Super Bowl.
