Northwestern opened its season with a 34-18 victory over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Saturday at Northwestern Medicine Field. The Wildcats compiled 497 yards of total offense, led by quarterback Aidan Chiles who passed for 273 yards and one touchdown. Joseph Himon II recorded 87 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Gavin Sawchuk and Caleb Komolafe also contributed to the ground attack. Following the win, Himon II asserted that Northwestern possesses the top running back unit in the country. The Wildcats now prepare for a matchup against the Colorado Buffaloes on September 19. Colorado enters that game following a 14-13 win over Georgia Tech.
