Notre Dame commit Wonderful Monds IV ends high school football season

Notre Dame four-star quarterback commit Wonderful “Champ” Monds IV announced his high school season is over due to an unexpected minor procedure. Monds shared the update on his Instagram on September 5, confirming he will miss the remainder of the 2026 campaign at Vero Beach. He played in two games this year, recording 591 passing yards and seven touchdowns to help the team reach a 2-0 start. Monds previously missed significant time during the 2025 season due to injuries. Vero Beach freshman Makai White, who started against St. Frances Academy during Monds' absence, is expected to handle quarterback duties moving forward. Monds intends to begin his career at Notre Dame after he is fully recovered.
