Nottinghamshire signs Mitchell Hay to replace Kyle Verreynne

Nottinghamshire has signed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Mitchell Hay to fill the roster spot left by Kyle Verreynne for the remainder of the County Championship season. The move follows the recall of Verreynne by Cricket South Africa, an exit described by director of cricket Mick Newell as not ideal with three matches remaining. Head coach Peter Moores noted the club sought a mature player capable of batting in the top six for the final stage of their campaign. Hay, who joins from Canterbury, has recorded over 2,100 first-class runs with a career strike average of 45.14. Nottinghamshire currently sits second in the Division One table, four points behind the league leaders, Somerset. The club aims to maintain its position in the standings during the final stretch of the season with the addition of the Black Caps international.
