Nuggets face uncertainty as Jokic's contract situation looms ahead of season

Summary

The Denver Nuggets are approaching the 2026-27 season with low expectations following a disappointing playoff exit last year. They lost in the first round of the 2026 NBA playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves and traded Peyton Watson during the offseason without making significant signings. Denver's poor defensive performance ranked them last among playoff teams, and while Nikola Jokic is eligible to sign a massive contract, their financial situation is precarious. The Nuggets aim for a turnaround despite concerns about player injuries and depth heading into the new campaign.
