Ohio State pays nearly 4 million dollars for two nonconference football games

Ohio State will pay $3.8 million in guarantees to host Ball State and Kent State for nonconference football games this season. Contract records indicate the university owes $1.9 million to each Mid-American Conference program for their respective appearances at Ohio Stadium. The Cardinals visit on Sept. 5, followed by the Golden Flashes on Sept. 19. These contests surround a scheduled road game against Texas on Sept. 12. The total expenditure for these two opponents exceeds the $2.9 million spent on guarantee games last season. Both visiting programs enter these matchups during rebuilding phases under their respective head coaches, Mike Uremovich and Mark Carney.
