Ohio State tight end Hunter Welcing makes John Mackey watch list
Summary

The John Mackey Award preseason watch list includes Ohio State tight end Hunter Welcing, who transferred from Northwestern. Welcing recorded 28 catches for 296 yards and two touchdowns last season. Despite Ohio State's history of not producing Mackey Award winners, the team sees potential in Welcing. As the season progresses, Nate Roberts may also contend for the starting tight end spot, which could lead to further watch list recognition later this year.
