Oklahoma retains John Mateer as starting quarterback for Florida matchup

Summary

Oklahoma will start John Mateer at quarterback for their upcoming game against Florida. Despite criticism regarding his inconsistent performance and limited yardage in the recent loss to South Carolina, the Sooners appear committed to Mateer after firing offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle. Jason Witten has been appointed as Arbuckle's replacement. Mateer maintained his usual first-team practice reps, indicating the coaching staff's continued belief in him. This decision comes as Oklahoma seeks to improve after a struggling offensive performance this season.
