Old Dominion to retire Taylor Heinicke's jersey during October game

Old Dominion University announced that it will retire the No. 14 jersey belonging to former quarterback Taylor Heinicke. The ceremony is scheduled for halftime of the Monarchs’ home game against Georgia Southern on October 15. Heinicke, who recently announced his retirement from the NFL after an 11-year career, started 45 games at Old Dominion. During his collegiate tenure, he passed for 14,959 yards and 132 touchdowns while earning FCS All-American honors and the Walter Payton Award. His professional career included notable stints with the Washington Commanders, where he started 24 games over three seasons and helped the team secure multiple victories. This event marks the first time Old Dominion has retired a football jersey in school history.
