Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy briefly exited the Rebels' game against Louisville on September 6 in Nashville. Lacy sustained an apparent injury during a run play up the middle with 5:28 remaining in the contest. The Ole Miss radio network reported that the running back had the wind knocked out of him after being tackled by multiple Cardinals players. He walked to the sideline under his own power and missed only one play before returning to the field. Upon his return, Lacy served as a decoy during a designed run for quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. The Rebels trailed 3-0 at the time of the incident.
