Oleksandr Gvozdyk explains his departure from Zuffa Boxing

Former WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk has commented on his release from Zuffa Boxing following a February loss to Radivoje Kalajdzic at Meta Apex. The 39-year-old fighter stopped on his feet during the seventh round of his promotional debut. Two months later, Gvozdyk received an email notification that his services were no longer required. He noted the company maintains a strict roster-cut philosophy that mirrors the operational approach of the UFC. Although Gvozdyk stated that the terms were clearly outlined in his contract, he cited a lack of direct communication and confusion regarding a post-fight drug test as frustrating elements of the process. Zuffa Boxing also ended its agreement with Robert Meriwether earlier this year following his loss to Tony Hirsch Jr.
