Oliver Ames and South Shore programs open fall season play

High school programs across the South Shore opened their fall schedules on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Oliver Ames began its MIAA Division 2 girls volleyball title defense by sweeping Taunton in three sets. In other girls soccer action, Whitman-Hanson shut out Plymouth South 6-0, while Abington recorded a 6-1 victory against Brockton. Boys soccer matches saw Hingham earn a 7-0 win over North Quincy and Norwell secure a 2-1 victory against Catholic Memorial. On the golf course, Plymouth South claimed a 236-243 win over North Quincy, and Whitman-Hanson defeated Silver Lake with a score of 228-243. The results mark the initial standings for local teams as they begin regular-season competition.
