Oneil Cruz returns to Pirates after two-month absence from injury

Oneil Cruz has been activated by the Pittsburgh Pirates after a two-month recovery from a fractured left hand. Cruz has not played since June 7 and missed 58 games. He recently played six minor league games to prepare for his return. Although he is not in the lineup against the Detroit Tigers, his offensive presence is hoped to bolster a struggling Pirates team sitting 6.5 games out of a wild card spot.
