Orioles designated hitter Pete Alonso leaves game after hit by pitch

Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Pete Alonso departed an August 30 game against the Athletics in Sacramento after being struck in the helmet by a 95-mph fastball. The pitch from Kade Morris occurred during the contest, and while Alonso rose on his own, he was removed from the field with a possible head injury. Jackson Holliday entered the game as a pinch runner for Alonso and subsequently scored on a triple by Gunnar Henderson. At the time of the incident, the Orioles held a 7-5 lead over the Athletics. Alonso, who signed a five-year contract with Baltimore in December 2025, has recorded 32 home runs and 91 RBIs this season. The team has provided no further update on his condition following the early exit.
