Packers fined two players for Week 1 conduct in NFL

The Green Bay Packers faced fines for on-field conduct during Week 1. Safety Evan Williams was fined $7,087 for unnecessary roughness after hitting Justin Jefferson, a defenseless player, with 3:43 left in the second quarter. Edge rusher Lukas Van Ness received a $17,911 fine for a hit to the head of quarterback Carson Wentz, occurring with 11:43 remaining in the third quarter. Despite their penalties, defensive back Javon Bullard and defensive lineman Chris McClellan were not fined. Bullard hit Kyler Murray but was deemed not to have committed a late or illegal hit. Overall, the NFL fined 20 players during the opening week of the season.
