Packers place wide receiver Savion Williams on injured reserve

The Green Bay Packers have placed second-year wide receiver Savion Williams on injured reserve with a designation to return. Williams sustained an ankle injury during a preseason game against the Denver Broncos and will miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season. The move opens a roster spot, allowing the team to keep Skyy Moore, Bo Melton, and J.Michael Sturdivant on the depth chart. Green Bay settled on a six-receiver rotation including starters Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Christian Watson. Williams entered his second season looking to expand his role as a gadget player after recording limited usage in his rookie year. He will now spend the opening month of the season rehabilitating the injury before he is eligible to return to the active roster.
