Padres consider trade for infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa amid playoff push

Summary

The San Diego Padres are looking to bolster their roster ahead of the trade deadline by targeting infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Currently in a competitive Wild Card race, the Padres sit in second place in the NL West, just 0.5 games out of a playoff spot. A proposed trade would send outfielder Jase Bowen to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Kiner-Falefa, who is having a solid season defensively and off to his highest OPS thus far. This move could help stabilize the infield as the Padres aim for postseason success, adjusting the lineup to potentially enhance production from their star players. Kiner-Falefa is set to hit free agency this winter, while Bowen has struggled in his short Major League career.
