Padres play Rockies as trade deadline approaches

The San Diego Padres begin a critical homestand against the Colorado Rockies tonight at 6:40 p.m. at Petco Park. This marks the start of six games before the Aug. 3 trade deadline, which will impact whether the Padres act as buyers or sellers in the market. San Diego recently completed a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins, giving them momentum and a half-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Padres hope to maintain their winning streak heading into their upcoming matchup against the San Francisco Giants for four games after facing the Rockies.
