Padres secure series opening win over Reds at Petco Park

The San Diego Padres defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-2 on June 8 at Petco Park, earning a much-needed victory in their season. The Padres' catcher Freddy Fermin hit a home run, marking his third consecutive game with a homer. Although Walker Buehler pitched well for San Diego, he was pulled after 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen maintained control despite conceding a run. Jase Bowen and Samad Taylor contributed significantly with a combined 4-for-7. The teams continue their series with Chase Burns starting for the Reds against Lucas Giolito for the Padres on June 9.
