Padres sign relief pitcher Trevor Gott to a minor league contract

The San Diego Padres signed 34-year-old right-handed reliever Trevor Gott to a minor league deal on Tuesday. Gott, an eight-year MLB veteran, previously pitched for the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets during the 2023 season. He most recently spent time in the Washington Nationals system, recording a 3.55 ERA over 26 appearances at Triple-A Rochester. The Padres added Gott as veteran depth to the organization following the release of right-handers J.P. France and Jose Leclerc. Because the signing occurred after September 1, Gott is ineligible to participate in the upcoming postseason. He will instead provide additional support for the team's bullpen throughout the final weeks of the regular season.
