Paige Sinicki made her season debut for the Portland Cascade in the AUSL on July 7 after an eight-month battle with Stage 2 breast cancer. Sinicki, who underwent chemotherapy and surgery, substituted in the fifth inning against the Carolina Blaze after teammate Sis Bates was injured. She was welcomed back with cheers and had one at-bat, facing the top overall pick Karlyn Pickens. The Cascade secured a 4-2 victory in the match. Sinicki is wearing a chest guard to protect her surgery site and played again the following day, achieving four put-outs and three assists.
