Pakistan drops seven players and two coaches following England series losses

The Pakistan Cricket Board overhauled its Test squad and support staff following a 194-run defeat at Lord’s that secured a 2-0 series lead for England. Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were recalled to Pakistan and will be replaced by Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke for the final Test in Birmingham on September 9. Seven players were dropped from the touring party, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Khurram Shahzad, Aamir Jamal, and Awais Zafar. This shake-up follows a period of poor results that saw the team lose 10 of their last 11 away Test matches. Pakistan previously attempted to improve results by reinstalling Babar Azam as captain in May, though the change did not prevent losses in the first two matches against England.
