Panthers' Taylor Moton diagnosed with blood clot, out to start season

Carolina Panthers right tackle Taylor Moton has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung and will miss at least the start of the season. The 10-year veteran is responding well to treatment but is expected to be unavailable for Week 1. The Panthers also placed cornerback Jaycee Horn on the reserve/non-football injury list due to a foot injury, but he may return early in camp. Moton’s absence could lead to first-round pick Monroe Freeling starting in his place. Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu is also recovering from surgery and could miss extended time this season.
