Paola Boivin, a former columnist for the Arizona Republic, is set to receive the Mary Garber Pioneer Award from the Association for Women in Sports Media on August 10 in Los Angeles. Boivin, who has had a 40-year career in sports media, is the first female journalist inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. She has previously served on the College Football Playoff selection committee and is currently a Professor of Practice at Arizona State's Cronkite School of Journalism. Notable past recipients of the award include Pam Oliver and Doris Burke.
