Paris court begins trial for murder of Federico Aramburu

The trial regarding the 2022 shooting death of former Argentina international rugby player Federico Aramburu begins Monday in Paris. Defendants Loik Le Priol and Romain Bouvier face murder and attempted murder charges related to the incident outside the Mabillon cafe. Prosecutors allege the two men, both associated with a far-right group, engaged in an altercation with the athlete and his companion, Shaun Hegarty, before firing weapons at the scene. Lyson Rochemir and Antony Sorrentino are also on trial for their roles in the event and subsequent efforts to evade arrest. The proceedings are scheduled to conclude on September 25 with a court verdict. Aramburu, who played professionally for Biarritz and Perpignan, was 42 years old at the time of his death.
