Paris Saint-Germain terminates contract for midfielder Renato Sanches

Paris Saint-Germain ended its professional relationship with Renato Sanches on September 1, 2026, granting the midfielder his release. The move makes the 29-year-old player a free agent immediately. Sanches previously spent time on loan at AS Roma, Benfica, and most recently, Panathinaikos for the 2025/26 season. Injuries and a lack of consistent form hindered his tenure in Paris after he joined the club from Lille in 2019. Once recognized as the 2016 Golden Boy award winner and a standout at the EURO 2016 tournament, Sanches struggled to establish a permanent role in the Paris Saint-Germain midfield. He is now eligible to sign with any club as a free agent.
