Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes confirmed his return to the field for Monday’s season opener against the Denver Broncos at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes is set to start his first game since sustaining ACL and LCL tears in his left knee last December. He did not participate in any preseason games as part of his recovery process. The Chiefs face potential personnel challenges on the offensive line, with starting left tackle Josh Simmons likely sidelined due to a back injury. If Simmons is unavailable, rookie Kahlil Benson is expected to start against a Denver pass rush that led the league in sacks last season. Mahomes expressed a desire to move past inquiries regarding his health as he resumes competitive play.
