Patrick Mahomes returns to Kansas City lineup for Monday Night Football opener

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to return to the field for the season opener against the Denver Broncos this Monday. Head coach Andy Reid indicated there is a strong possibility that Mahomes will start, provided he avoids any setbacks in his recovery from surgery on his left knee. The quarterback sustained ACL and LCL tears last December and has spent the offseason working toward a return to full football activities. While Mahomes did not participate in any preseason snaps, he has been a consistent presence at training camp practices since being medically cleared in late July. Concurrent with his return to the field, Mahomes launched a new signature eyewear collection in partnership with Oakley. The series features designs incorporating Chiefs branding and team colors, coinciding with the official start of the 2026 NFL season.
