Patriots defense ranked sixth by NFL writer after offseason changes
Summary

NFL writer Gary Davenport has ranked the New England Patriots' defense as the sixth-best in the league following notable offseason changes. Despite the Patriots losing players Khyiris Tonga and K'Lavon Chaisson, they added defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones and All-Pro safety Kevin Byard. The Patriots' defense was previously strong enough to secure the AFC last season. Davenport listed the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, and Houston Texans as superior defenses. Christian Gonzalez is highlighted as a key player for New England's defense, alongside veteran Carlton Davis III.
