Patriots host defensive backs in workouts after waiving linebacker

The New England Patriots worked out safeties Eric Butler and Tysheem Johnson at Gillette Stadium on July 31. This follows the team's decision to waive linebacker Otis Reese, creating an open roster spot. Butler, who played at San Diego State, had multiple college accolades and participated in rookie minicamps with the Raiders and Saints. Johnson, a former player at Ole Miss and Oregon, was previously waived by the Bears and spent time on the Falcons' practice squad last season. The Patriots are set for another training camp session on August 1.
