Patriots lead Seahawks 7-0 in the second quarter of regular season opener

The New England Patriots hold a 7-0 lead over the Seattle Seahawks midway through the second quarter of their season opener. Rookie tight end Eli Rairdon caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Drake Maye to cap a 10-play, 77-yard drive. The scoring opportunity was set up by a pass interference penalty drawn by AJ Brown against Josh Jobe. Maye has completed 7-of-8 passes for 44 yards and added 20 rushing yards on four carries. Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold is currently questionable to return to the game after sustaining a hip injury on the team's opening possession. Backup quarterback Drew Lock has entered the contest in Darnold's place as the game remains in progress.
