Patriots place edge rusher Harold Landry on physically unable to perform list

The New England Patriots will start the 2026 NFL season with linebacker Harold Landry on the physically unable to perform list. This roster move sidelines the starting edge rusher for at least the first four weeks of the campaign. Landry led the team in sacks during the 2025 season with 8.5, while also contributing 10 tackles for loss and 19 quarterback hits over 15 appearances. The team must now adjust its defensive rotation to account for his absence. Coaching staff plans include using veteran Dre'Mont Jones and Elijah Ponder, alongside rookies Gabe Jacas and Quintayvious Hutchins, to fill the vacancy on the edge starting in Week 1.
