Patriots release defensive tackle Travis Shaw before training camp

Summary

The New England Patriots have released rookie defensive tackle Travis Shaw one week prior to the start of training camp. Shaw, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent on May 20, was unable to secure a place on the roster amid competition from established players like Milton Williams and Christian Barmore. His departure opens a spot for the Patriots to potentially add depth at another position, particularly tight end, following an injury to Julian Hill. Veterans are scheduled to report to Foxborough on July 24.
