Patriots sign Christian Gonzalez to record-breaking four-year contract extension

The New England Patriots and cornerback Christian Gonzalez agreed to a four-year, $135 million contract extension on Monday night. The deal includes $102 million in guaranteed money, making Gonzalez the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history and the highest-paid player in the franchise's record books. The 24-year-old was the 17th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and earned Pro Bowl honors during the 2025 season. Negotiations regarding the extension took place throughout the offseason as the team prepared for its season opener. This agreement secures the defender through his prime years after he played a central role in the team's run to Super Bowl LX.
