Patriots sign Xavier Newman-Johnson, release Jacob Rizy ahead of Week 2

The New England Patriots signed offensive lineman Xavier Newman-Johnson to their practice squad on September 18, 2026, prior to their Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Newman-Johnson, who has played four seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets, adds depth to the offensive line.
