Patriots trade Kayshon Boutte for Jaylen Reed and draft pick

Summary

The New England Patriots have traded wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans in exchange for safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick in 2028. This decision comes as the team approaches preseason roster cuts amid ongoing negotiations regarding cornerback Christian Gonzalez's contract, which have seen little urgency from the front office. Eliot Wolf, the Patriots' executive vice president of player personnel, addressed the media about the trade, emphasizing a calculated approach. As training camp continues, the Patriots are evaluating their roster options and preparing for the preseason finale.
