Patriots waive tight end Mitch Van Vooren after signing Greg Van Roten

The New England Patriots waived tight end Mitch Van Vooren following the signing of veteran offensive lineman Greg Van Roten on August 13, 2026. Van Vooren, who joined the team earlier this summer, caught one pass for four yards in the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, which ended in a 13-13 tie. The move opens a roster spot as the Patriots prepare for joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles. These practices are scheduled for August 19 and 20, followed by a preseason game on August 21 at Gillette Stadium.
