Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown exits season opener with ankle injury

New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown left Wednesday night’s season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury. Brown, appearing in his first game for the Patriots following a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, sustained the injury early in the third quarter. Medical staff evaluated the receiver in a sideline tent before he went to the locker room, and officials later ruled him out for the remainder of the contest. Prior to his departure, Brown recorded three receptions for 26 yards. The injury occurred during a matchup that also saw Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold exit early with a hip injury after only five plays. Brown joined the Patriots this summer in a trade that included a 2028 first-round draft pick.
