Paul Finebaum expressed his admiration for Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer in a recent interview. Following an inconsistent first season, Mateer, who transferred from Washington State, began 2026 strong, but struggled after a thumb injury. Finebaum believes that with improved protection and offensive weapons, Mateer could excel. He highlighted the optimistic outlook for Oklahoma's offense, noting the return of an experienced offensive line and the arrival of transfer receivers Trell Harris and Parker Livingstone.
