Paul Skenes struggles again for Pirates in start against Tigers

Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates had a difficult outing against the Detroit Tigers on August 19, allowing three runs and four walks in just 4 1/3 innings. Despite being given extra rest, Skenes was removed after 81 pitches, marking the first time he has thrown fewer than 85 pitches in consecutive starts since April. His recent performance continues a troubling trend, with a 6.52 ERA over his last four starts, and he has struggled to maintain velocity, reaching only 97 mph on his fastball. The Pirates enter this game with a 62-66 record, 6.5 games out of a wild-card spot in the National League.
