Paul Skenes struggles as Pirates sit fourth in NL Central

Summary

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes faces challenges in the 2026 season, with his ERA rising to 3.88. After winning the NL Rookie of the Year and Cy Young awards in previous years, Skenes has not performed at the same level this season, partly due to a lackluster team that sits 61-65. Recently, Skenes attracted attention for a shirtless photo, leading to internet mockery regarding his physique. Sources suggest that roster issues and a disrupted offseason routine due to the World Baseball Classic have contributed to Skenes' performance decline. The Pirates continue their season without immediate signs of improvement.
