York Knights forward Paul Vaughan will retire from professional rugby league following the conclusion of the 2026 Betfred Super League season. The 35-year-old veteran finishes a 14-year career that included representative appearances for the NSW Blues and the Australian Kangaroos. Vaughan debuted with the Canberra Raiders in 2013 and later played for the St George Illawarra Dragons, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and Warrington Wolves. He surpassed 300 total games across the NRL and Super League before joining York for the 2026 campaign. The club announced the decision at its annual awards night on September 8. Vaughan is scheduled to play his final match for York against Bradford at LNER Community Stadium on Thursday.
