Peak season for fluke fishing draws anglers to Jersey Shore

An 8-pound fluke was caught at the Jersey Shore as anglers target summer flounder during peak season. Matthew Walsh landed the fish while drifting a Gulp Nuclear Chicken in the ocean. Reports indicate a strong catch with many fish in the 4- to 6-pound range. The party boat fleet reported fair results over the weekend with bluefish also being caught along the northern Monmouth County coastline. Fishermen at Keansbury Pier are reeling in spots, croakers, and occasional weakfish. The 57th Beach Haven White Marlin Invitational has 52 boats registered, with activities planned for the tournament days from Tuesday through Saturday.
