The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on June 16 that they have re-signed goaltender Taylor Gauthier to a one-year extension. The two-way contract has an average annual value of $850,000 at the NHL level. Gauthier, 25, has been with the organization for four seasons, spending last year with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL, where he set team records and achieved a 21-9-5 record with a 2.09 GAA. He may serve as a backup in the AHL this upcoming season while competing for a roster spot behind expected tandem Sergei Murashov and Arturs Silovs.
