Penguins trade Emil Pieniniemi for Olympian Oliver Okuliar

The Pittsburgh Penguins executed a trade with the Florida Panthers to acquire 26-year-old Oliver Okuliar. Okuliar, an unsigned restricted free agent, played for Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League last season, scoring 15 goals and providing 14 assists. His performance in the SHL playoffs included leading the league in goals while helping his team secure the championship. In international play, Okuliar represented Slovakia at the 2026 Olympic Games. The Penguins traded defenseman Emil Pieniniemi, a 21-year-old drafted in 2023, in exchange for Okuliar. Following the trade, the Penguins will aim to sign Okuliar and have him compete for a roster position next season.
