Penn State football moves to 16th in national rankings after week 1 win

Penn State rose to No. 16 in the latest USA TODAY FBS re-rank following its 45-0 season-opening victory against Marshall. The Nittany Lions also climbed to the No. 16 spot in the AP Top 25 and the FWAA-National Football Foundation Super 16 poll. Quarterback Rocco Becht and wide receivers Brett Eskildsen and Chase Sowell contributed to the offense, while Koby Howard recorded a breakout performance. The defense held the Marshall offense throughout the contest. Penn State next travels to Philadelphia for a Week 2 matchup against Temple, which is currently ranked No. 88 after its victory over Rhode Island. Marshall dropped five spots to No. 119 in the latest rankings.
