Penn State tight ends Brahmer and Burkle appear on Mackey Award watch list

Benjamin Brahmer and Gabe Burkle of Penn State are included on the John Mackey Award watch list, unveiled on August 5. Both players, recent transfers from Iowa State, are highlighted among 40 contenders for the award recognizing the nation's top tight end. Brahmer was a semifinalist in 2025 and had 37 receptions for 446 yards and six touchdowns. Burkle contributed 26 catches for 302 yards and one touchdown last season. Former Penn State tight end Luke Reynolds also made the list after transferring to Virginia Tech. The Nittany Lions, now coached by Matt Campbell, start their season against Marshall on September 5.
