Pete Golding begins first full season as Ole Miss head coach

Ole Miss enters its season opener against Louisville today at Nissan Stadium with Pete Golding serving as the program's head coach. Golding assumed the role on November 30, 2025, after Lane Kiffin departed for the coaching position at LSU. During his tenure as defensive coordinator at Ole Miss, Golding oversaw a unit that allowed 18.5 points per game and established program records for sacks and tackles for loss in 2024. He previously led the Rebels to two wins in the College Football Playoff as an interim leader following Kiffin's exit. Golding signed a five-year contract worth $35 million that runs through 2030, with an annual base salary of $6.8 million for his first season. The Rebels are scheduled to kick off against Louisville at 6:30 p.m. CT.
