Peyton Manning awards scholarships to four students at the University of Tennessee

University of Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning visited campus on Aug. 31 to present his namesake scholarship to four incoming freshmen. The recipients, Hector Centeno-Lopez, Breanna Gonzalez, Olamide Olakunle, and Mikayla Schumpert, were selected for the four-year award based on their academic success, leadership, and commitment to service. The scholarship also grants the students entry into the Haslam Leadership Scholarship program. Manning, who endowed the fund upon his graduation in 1998, has supported 69 students through the program over the past 29 years. During the ceremony, the former NFL quarterback expressed pride in the program's growth and his hope that the recipients would leave a lasting positive impact on the university. The students plan to pursue various fields of study, including engineering, marketing, and finance.
