Peyton Watson identifies Anthony Edwards as a difficult defensive assignment

Peyton Watson recently discussed the challenges of defending Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. In an appearance on the Curious Mike podcast, Watson cited Edwards' explosive athleticism and improved three-point shooting as primary obstacles for defenders. During the 2025-26 NBA season, Edwards maintained a 39.9% shooting percentage from behind the arc. Watson, who spent time with the Denver Nuggets, noted that his familiarity with Edwards came from frequent matchups between the two Western Conference teams. Now a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Watson plans to apply the defensive lessons learned while guarding elite scorers to his assignments against Eastern Conference opponents. Watson credited his growth as a perimeter defender to his experience facing high-level offensive players throughout his career.
